Higher Ground Band is:

Cathie Silano – lead vocals

First and foremost we are believers and followers of Jesus Christ. He is the King of kings ans Lord of lords and the entire reason for what we do.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” –John 15:5

We are not just a band, we are a family and we put the personal needs of our members before our musical pursuits. We are all involved with our local churches as well as other ministry endeavors and events.

Higher Ground Band crosses the lines of music genres and has found it’s place in the Christian Rock music scene along side it’s contemporaries such as Petra and others who have crossed the boundaries of classic/hard rock and Christian music. Growing up we are inspired by the rockers such as Led Zeppelin, Heart, Bad Co, Aerosmith, and The Who. Great southern rock and blues bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Stevie Ray Vaughan as well as the greats of progressive/fusion rock like Jeff Beck, Yes, and Return To Forever. We are also inspired by our contemporaries such as DC Talk, Phil Keaggy, Lincoln Brewster, Chris Tomlin, and Hillsong United to name a few.

Our original music, inspired of God, is a collection of personal testimonies, encouragement, and reflection of where we believe we are at in time and space. We hope that our music appeals to everyone but it it is strongly focused on those who have been “around the block” and maybe have slipped back a little bit, struggling in their walk, or maybe don’t know Jesus at all and are searching for answers. You are US and this music is for you! 🙂

Why this name?
We’re always striving to reach the “higher ground”. Actually it’s from the Stevie Wonder song. We love Stevie!
Do you play live?
We play live any chance we get.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It adds a new avenue to reach the multitudes.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it was the right thing to do…yes.
Background:
The members of HGB all reside in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. We all attend and serve regularly in our local churches. As a group we are not allied with any particular denomination.

Our musical experience comes from the Christian music industry, the Secular music industry, as well as contemporary Christian praise and worship. We all have professional experience in performance and recording.

We are family oriented and all engagements are considered family events.

Your influences?
Higher Ground Band is a rockin’ mix of Classic, Southern and Blues rock styles and is reminiscent of everything from Bad Company to Led Zeppelin and Stevie Ray Vaughan to Pink Floyd.
Favorite spot?
